Everything looks “mostly normal”…

And almost immediately, the conversation goes here:

“Do you drink?”
“Cut back on alcohol.”

 

But what if that’s not the full story?

 

Because here’s what I see all the time:

Women who barely drink…
but still have elevated liver enzymes.

 

And they’re left wondering:

“What is my body trying to tell me?”

 

Simple Explanation (No Clinical Overload)

ALT and AST are enzymes found inside your liver cells.

 

Think of them like:

👉 signals that your liver is under stress

 

When liver cells get irritated, inflamed, or overworked…

these enzymes leak into your bloodstream.

 

That’s what shows up on your labs.

 

So elevated ALT/AST doesn’t automatically mean damage.

 

It means your liver is dealing with something.
